Weymouth Football Club have a history of embracing new technology and chose to be one of the first clubs in non-league football to install LED floodlighting.

In 2019, the club upgraded their facilities, installing a new retrofit lighting system with the support of Wiseman Lighting.

Upon their promotion to the National League, the Terras needed to ensure the club’s facilities satisfied the FA’s Ground Grading criteria.

They required a timely and cost-effective solution to LED floodlighting and a number of other ground improvements, including new roofing and spectator seating.

Furthermore, the club’s existing lighting system was unreliable and understandably at the end of serviceability, with parts no longer available.

Wiseman Lighting created an innovative plan to improve the current lighting system and, by utilising existing infrastructure, the Wiseman team installed a bright and efficient new lighting system, with annual energy saving and no maintenance for 10 years.

As part of the service offered, the capital was raised and engineers engaged to carry out imperative structural reports, with the support of Wiseman partners.

This resulted in a new roof for the club’s main stand and new seating for 800 spectators at the same time as the LED lighting upgrade.

“We are delighted with Wiseman’s professional approach and technical knowledge of sports floodlighting,” said Weymouth Football Club chairman Ian White.

“The management’s passion to help clubs improve facilities was appreciated and we would highly recommend anyone needing improvements to call Wiseman.”

Football secretary and director Pete Saxby added: “The Wiseman team provided a full evaluation of our existing system and what was required.

“They were able to use existing equipment with the project being delivered in a very professional and timely fashion while importantly on budget.”
